About the Role
Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Manager or Manager will oversee key accounting functions for a complex solar energy platform with multiple entities and tax equity fund structures. This role is responsible for overseeing the monthly close process, fund and partnership reporting, consolidation, and financial compliance in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
The ideal candidate has strong experience with renewable energy project accounting, tax equity financing structures, and managing multi-entity consolidations in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple project entities and tax equity funds;
- Prepare and review consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules;
- Assist the Controller in drafting technical accounting memos for significant or non-routine transactions (as needed);
- Oversee accounting and reporting for tax equity funds and related partnership structures;
- Manage capital account tracking, distribution waterfalls, and allocation calculations;
- Ensure proper application of equity method accounting where applicable;
- Oversee accounting for Work-in-progress (WIP), solar energy assets and depreciation, revenue recognition (e.g. lease revenue energy incentives), and accurate tracking of investment Tax Credits and other energy incentives;
- Maintain internal controls over financial reporting;
- Support external audits and manage audit deliverables;
- Coordinate with auditors on tax equity and complex partnership matters;
- Ensure compliance with debt covenants and reporting requirements;
- Manage and mentor accounting staff, including actively work to motivate, develop and recognize their performance;
- Drive process improvements and system enhancements;
- Collaborate cross-functionally with project finance, asset management, tax, and legal teams;
- Support ERP system optimization and automation initiatives;
- Coordinate with Financial Planning Director for budget/forecast preparation and for monthly variance analysis of actual results versus budget and forecast.
Knowledge and Experience Required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to manage complex entity structures;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills;
- Ability to proactively establish and maintain effective relationships at all levels of the organization;
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams;
- Experience in tax equity structures and accounting;
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP;
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; CPA license (active) strongly preferred;
- Minimum 8 years of progressive accounting experience (Senior Manager), 5-8 years (Manager)
- Experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, or project-based industries strongly preferred
- Direct experience with tax equity structures strongly preferred
- Experience with partnership accounting and multi-entity consolidations
Salary: $130,000.00 –$160,000.00, bonus eligible.
