About Brineworks

Brineworks is an Amsterdam-based climate tech company building ultra low-cost Direct Air Capture technology. Our proprietary electrolyzer captures CO₂ directly from the air while co-producing green hydrogen. This breakthrough unlocks affordable and scalable carbon removal and e-Fuel production.

The Role

We're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineering Intern (Manufacturing) to develop and implement methods and structures that streamline production of our commercial-scale electrolyser stack. You'll work closely with our Stack Architect.

What you'll do
  • 3D CAD Modeling: Utilize 3D CAD software to design rigs and jigs
  • CNC: Use CAM software, and our in house CNC to manufacture your designs
  • Prototyping & DFM: Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles, optimizing your designs for CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, and 3D printing.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work directly with Senior Design Engineers, and R&D Engineers to gather requirements for tooling and integrate feedback into your designs.
  • Assembly & Testing: Lead the physical assembly, and validation of the rigs and jigs you design.
  • Documentation: Write design and SOP documents

What we're looking for
  • Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • CAD Proficiency: Experience with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360).
  • Mechanical Aptitude: A solid understanding of fundamental mechanical, and manufacturing principles (statics, methods of manufacturing, DFM, quality control, and materials science).
  • Hands-on Tool Experience: Practical experience operating standard manual and power tools for assembly, fabrication, and prototyping.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain design decisions.
  • CNC Experience (or willing to learn)
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
  • Fluent in English
  • Please note: we are unable to sponsor visas for this role. Applicants must already have the right to work/intern in the Netherlands.

Nice to have
  • Previous engineering team experience (e.g., Formula SAE, Baja SAE, Robotics, or prior internships).
  • Experience with quality control of manufactured goods
