$96,964 per annum base + Superannuation

Permanent, Full Time (36 hour week)

Brimbank is continuously growing, with many transformational infrastructure projects about to break ground. A key focus of the coming years will be working with the State and Federal Governments to establish Melbourne Airport Rail; to complete redevelopment of Sunshine and Albion Stations; and the realisation of the Sunshine Precinct Masterplan which will Sunshine transformed into a CBD, vastly increasing local jobs, housing, businesses, services and tourism to provide for the many tens of thousands of people living, working and travelling through the Brimbank.

We are currently seeking a Full Time Permanent staff member to join our team based at our offices in Sunshine.


The role

Reporting to the Climate Emergency Coordinator, we are seeking a Climate Emergency Officer who can bring their skills and experience to:


  • Design and deliver targeted community sustainability engagement and behaviour change activities/events for climate emergency action across the community.
  • Support the delivery of staff engagement programs to increase and embed climate emergency awareness and action within the organisation.
  • Lead the development and delivery of Council’s Climate Emergency Strategy.
  • Facilitate municipal-wide linkages and learning about the climate emergency to enable aligned advocacy, campaigning, and long-term sustainable development.



To be considered you will have:


  • Demonstrated strong understanding of the climate emergency and solutions.
  • Experience in developing and implementing community climate action and/or sustainability campaigns and projects, leading to results, including communications and community action.
  • Experience collating and analysing information to ensure an evidence-based approach to decision making and program design, delivery, and improvement.
  • Possess a relevant degree qualification in climate change, sustainability, environmental management, education or related field with relevant experience.
  • Local government experience is desirable.
