Assistant Project Manager
Preconstruction Assistant Project Manager
Brightsmith are currently working with a $700M+ national leader in renewable natural gas (RNG). Backed by a global investment fund, they convert organic waste into renewable energy through their patented anaerobic digestion technology, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting regenerative agriculture.
With a design-build-own-operate model, the company is scaling rapidly across North America. As part of this expansion, they are now looking for another Assistant Project Manager to join the Preconstruction team in Boston.
The APM needs to be hands-on and detail-oriented. This role supports early-phase project planning and risk management across engineering, development, and procurement, ensuring projects are set up for successful execution.
The position is ideal for someone with a construction or engineering background who thrives in a collaborative, execution-focused environment—supporting project teams, keeping workstreams organized, and helping deliver large, complex builds.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Preconstruction Project Manager with planning, coordination, and construction readiness activities
- Conduct monthly site visits and prepare Field Observation & Existing Conditions reports
- Track engineering schedules, layouts, and geotechnical requests
- Facilitate communication across internal teams and external contractors/vendors
- Maintain and update project risk assessments
- Document preconstruction meetings and deliverables
- Assist with permitting and entitlement coordination
- Track and communicate project changes to reduce risk and delays
Ideal Candidate
- 2–5 years of APM experience in construction management, general contracting, or engineering
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with a focus on risk awareness
- Detail-oriented and technically minded; confident reviewing drawings and complex project documents
- Proactive, dependable, and solutions-driven; able to work independently when needed
- Comfortable supporting senior PMs rather than seeking immediate promotion
- Flexible and team-oriented, willing to put in extra effort to meet project deadlines
- Familiarity with MS Excel, MS Project, Oracle, Primavera P6, and PDF tools preferred
- PMP certification a plus
This role is 4 days a week in West Boston, MA. Remote work is not available.
