ESG Consultant – GHG & Decarbonisation Specialist

Bangalore (On-site) || 2–4 Years Experience Required

POSITION OVERVIEW

Work directly with clients across multiple sectors to develop and implement GHG accounting programs, decarbonisation strategies, and ESG disclosures. Strong GHG Protocol expertise across Scope 1, 2, and 3 is a mandatory requirement for this role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

GHG Accounting & Decarbonisation

• Lead Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG inventory development across a cross-sector client portfolio

• Apply GHG Protocol Corporate Standard, Scope 3 Standard

• Develop decarbonisation roadmaps and net-zero transition plans aligned to SBTi

• Conduct carbon footprint assessments including full Scope 3 category-level analysis

• Support clients through CDP Climate questionnaire preparation and scoring

• Build and validate emissions calculation models and resolve data quality issues

• Familiarity with EF mapping

Client Management & Advisory

• Manage assigned client portfolio as primary ESG point of contact

• Support ESG reporting preparation (BRSR, GRI, CDP, EcoVadis, S&P CSA, CSRD)

• Conduct ESG assessments, materiality analyses, and risk identification

• Present findings and recommendations to senior client stakeholders

• Guide clients through disclosure strategy and framework selection

Research & Product Development

• Monitor GHG accounting standards, carbon market developments, and climate regulation globally

• Conduct sector benchmarking on emissions intensity and decarbonisation pathways

• Contribute to Breathe ESG's proprietary GHG frameworks, tools, and calculation methodologies

• Support creation of sector-specific guidance documents and templates

• Analyse ESG ratings and identify improvement opportunities for clients

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's: Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Economics, or related field

• Master's Preferred: MSc in Climate Change, Environmental Management, Sustainability, or MBA with sustainability focus

• Professional Certifications (Preferred): GHG Protocol Certification, CDP-accredited training, CFA ESG, GRI Certified Training, SASB FSA

• 2–4 years in ESG consulting, carbon accounting, sustainability advisory, or GHG audits

• Demonstrated hands-on experience with Scope 1, 2 & 3 GHG inventories – mandatory

• Cross-sectoral experience (e.g. manufacturing, financial services, IT, FMCG, infrastructure) strongly preferred

Industry Knowledge

• Cross-sector experience: manufacturing, FMCG, financial services, IT, infrastructure, or energy

• Climate-related financial risks (TCFD / IFRS S2)

• Indian environmental regulations (MoEFCC, SEBI, PAT scheme)

• Carbon pricing and carbon border adjustment mechanisms (CBAM)

• Supply chain sustainability and Scope 3 value chain emissions

• Sustainable finance principles
