The Vice President of Sustainability is responsible for leading and advancing the organization’s sustainability strategy. This role oversees all aspects of sustainability programs, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder expectations. The role partners cross-functionally to design and implement initiatives that reduce environmental impact, enhance transparency, and position the organization as a sustainability leader.
This position requires a strategic thinker with strong execution discipline who can translate sustainability priorities into measurable outcomes, auditable reporting, and compelling external narratives. The VP of Sustainability will report to the Company’s General Counsel.

Responsibilities Include
- Sustainability Strategy Development & Execution
- Develop, own, and continuously evolve the company’s sustainability strategy aligned with enterprise priorities.
- Establish clear goals, KPIs, and governance structures to drive accountability and measurable progress.
- Implement and oversee auditable environmental and sustainability reporting frameworks and tools.
- Track and report on execution progress, ensuring data integrity, transparency, and readiness for internal and external audits.
- Sustainability Reporting & Third-Party Management
- Own and manage relationships with third-party vendors and advisors supporting sustainability initiatives.
- Lead the preparation and delivery of sustainability-related reporting required by customers, lenders, investors, and sponsors.
- Oversee responses and submissions to key ratings and reporting organizations (e.g., S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment and similar frameworks).
- Ensure consistent, accurate, and timely reporting across all stakeholder groups.
- Regulatory & Policy Alignment
- Partner with Legal, Government Affairs, and business leaders to interpret and operationalize federal, state, and local sustainability regulations.
- Monitor emerging legislation and regulatory developments regarding environmental and sustainability compliance and disclosures.
- Ensure the organization maintains full compliance with evolving sustainability, climate, and environmental reporting standards, including those applicable to California and other key jurisdictions.
- External Communications & Public Reporting
- Support the development and delivery of the company’s external sustainability narrative.
- Lead the creation of sustainability reports, climate action plans, and disclosures required by regulatory bodies.
- Partner with Communications and Investor Relations to effectively articulate the company’s sustainability strategy to external stakeholders, including investors, customers, and the public.
- Promote internal awareness and understanding of sustainability initiatives and progress.
- Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across operations, finance, legal, and strategy to embed sustainability into core business processes.
- Identify and implement initiatives, technologies, and partnerships that reduce the organization’s carbon footprint and improve operational efficiency.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and advisor to senior leadership on sustainability trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MS in Sustainability, Environmental Science, or related field) preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in sustainability, corporate responsibility, or a related field, with leadership responsibilities.
- Deep knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks, standards, and rating systems (e.g., GRI, SASB/ISSB, TCFD, S&P CSA).
- Proven ability to design and implement enterprise-wide sustainability strategies.
- Experience managing third-party vendors and complex reporting processes.
- Strong understanding of regulatory environments, particularly U.S. federal and state sustainability requirements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including executive-level presentation capabilities.
