Payments & Collections Manager
Bolt is the very first energy platform that truly wants to make the Belgian power grid sustainable. Through Bolt, you can buy your energy directly from local, green producers. For example, from Nico's solar panels or Stéphane's hydroelectric power station. This way, you know exactly where your energy comes from and where your money goes.
Why does Bolt do this? Today’s energy market is not transparent. Traditional suppliers sell "grey" energy as green and fail to help our country become more sustainable. Bolt wants to change that. Will you join us in going against the current?
Your Responsibilities
As Payments & Collections Manager, you are a vital link in the team, acting as the guardian of Bolt's cash flows. You are responsible for the entire end-to-end Payments & Collections process, from defining the strategy to executing it. You ensure that our suppliers are paid on time, our customers can pay smoothly, and that we maintain a robust policy regarding bad payers and debt collection.
Your mission? To build a flawless, efficient, and scalable payment process that supports our growth.
Your focus will be on 3 domains:
1. Payments & Collections Management
- You are ultimately responsible for all outgoing payments to suppliers and the processing of direct debits. Flawless and on-time is your standard.
- You manage the entire supplier invoice process: from correct booking to approval and payment.
- You process customer reimbursements in a timely and customer-friendly manner.
- You analyze the entire process, identify inconsistencies, and resolve them proactively.
2. Dunning & Debt Recovery
- You manage the collection of our outstanding invoices: you closely monitor recovery rates and perform system checks.
- Once a year, you lead the sale of bad debt. You prepare the file and manage the process from A to Z.
- You maintain relationships with external partners such as collection agencies and bailiffs. You challenge them on results and constantly look for areas of improvement.
- You optimize our dunning communication: how do we remind customers to pay in a way that fits the Bolt brand?
3. Risk Management & KPIs
- You keep your finger on the pulse through key KPIs, such as the unpaid invoice percentage and the direct debit ratio.
- You prevent (re-)subscriptions of bad payers by making smart use of available tools.
- Together with the team, you manage the 'drop process' for customers who fail to meet their obligations.
What we offer you:
- An exciting full-time job within a growing scale-up that makes a positive impact.
- A driven and enthusiastic team with a positive mindset. In addition to a great working atmosphere, we regularly organize after-work drinks and legendary team-building events.
- A workplace with a view over Brussels, combined with remote work.
- A competitive salary package with extra-legal benefits.
What we expect from you:
- You hold a relevant Master’s degree (Economics, Business Administration, Energy, or equivalent). Experience in the energy sector is a plus but not a requirement.
- Analytically strong: You love data and numbers. You immediately spot where a process is lagging and how it can be improved.
- Ownership: You are a 'doer' who takes responsibility. You enjoy both thinking strategically and handling operational details.
- Communicator: You enjoy collaborating and have strong communication skills. You can handle external partners (debt collection/bailiffs) while maintaining the human and transparent tone Bolt stands for.
- You are fluent in Dutch or French, and English.
- You want to contribute to the energy transition in Belgium, one of the most efficient ways to combat climate change.
