Product Owner | Series A | Solar Renewable Energy | Sydney (CBD)
About the client
Our client is a Series A renewable energy business making solar and battery storage available to Australian households at no upfront cost. They’ve raised significantly, they’re backed by serious investors, and they’re scaling their go-to-market and delivery functions now.
This client is a market disrupting, category creating model, where every household that joins becomes part of a distributed energy network.
That category doesn’t really exist here yet, which is exactly why they’re building it: cleaner power, a steadier grid, and access that isn’t gated by who can afford twenty thousand dollars upfront.
What you own
There's three sides to get right — retailers who bring the customers, installers who put the hardware on the roof, and a proposition most Australians have never seen before. All three are yours.
What you need
- Product ownership. You’ve owned a roadmap and had to balance strategic priorities.
- Project management. You’ve run work from definition to delivery with real dependencies
- End-to-end delivery. Something you shipped went live and moved a number. You can say which number.
- Hands-on practice. You run your own discovery and build your own prototypes. Figma, AI tooling, code — whatever gets you to something testable without waiting for a designer.
- Range. You can go deep on a technical problem, wide across commercial, marketing and operations, then compress it into a strategy a team can build from.
- Comfort without scaffolding. No design team, no research function, no delivery manager. If that reads as a problem rather than an opportunity, this isn’t your role.
Helpful, not required
- Energy-market literacy — NEM, AEMO, FCAS, DER, VPP, retail tariffs
- B2B platform or partner-integration ownership
- A technical or quantitative degree, or a route into product via engineering, analysis or operations
- You’ve seen a company go from prototype to scale and know which parts hurt
What this isn’t
A ceremony role. The expectation is you automate and strip out process rather than build a practice around it — when a ritual stops serving the shipping, it gets cut.
It’s also not a role where strategy arrives from above. You’d set it with the CFO and CEO.
