Role And Responsibilities

• Advise on global patent and IP strategy

• Provide transactional support for product and engineering teams

• Assist in developing and managing Bloom's patent portfolio, including invention mining from engineering and manufacturing teams

• Offer counseling on IP related issues for new products and features.

• Provide transactional support to corporate and operations teams for IP and IT-related products and services (e.g., licensing agreements, SaaS and other cloud-based services, IT outsourcing, IT hardware)

• Provide strategic legal counsel on the development, deployment, and governance of artificial intelligence systems across the enterprise

• Provide IP-related subject-matter expertise and counseling to colleagues developing, negotiating, and managing a variety of commercial contracts (e.g., customer-facing agreements, joint venture agreements, engineering & construction, field services, marketing, consulting and other professional services).

• Create IP-related policies, procedures, training programs, compliance programs

Skills and Experience:

• 15+ years of IP experience at a top law firm or in-house with a mix of prosecution, transactional and/or litigation experience

• Background experience in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, materials science, chemistry or physics.

• Experience with AI governance policies, procedures, and best practices aligned with legal requirements and industry standards

• Significant experience partnering with and providing support to product and engineering teams is required.

• Demonstrated experience leading or otherwise actively supporting IP or IT-related transactions.

• Experience with product development and industrial manufacturing is a plus.

• Sound and practical business judgment, intellectual creativity, and problem-solving skills.

• Experience developing/managing open source policies is a plus

• JD degree and active membership in the California State Bar.
