CAD Designer - Energy Parks
A DAY IN THE LIFE As a CAD Designer supporting Energy Parks, you'll create and maintain engineering drawings that help bring integrated energy campuses to life. You'll work alongside electrical, civil, structural, and mechanical engineers to develop site layouts, utility infrastructure plans, substations, transmission systems, solar energy, wind energy, battery storage facilities, and data center support infrastructure. Your work will help transform complex engineering concepts into buildable designs that support the future of energy. STEP INTO THE ROLE
- Supports estimating and engineering efforts with quantity takeoffs, drafting, modeling, and data analysis. Generates bid quantities and performs takeoffs for bid items. Communicates any discrepancies noticed in the plans and specifications to the estimators.
- Create and maintain detailed CAD drawings and design packages for utility-scale Energy Parks projects.
- Develop site layouts, electrical plans, civil drawings, equipment arrangements, and construction documentation.
- Creates plans and reviews and utilizes RFP documents/drawings that support both procurement and project teams.
- Assist with integrated energy campus designs that may include solar, wind, battery energy storage systems (BESS), gas generation facilities, substations, transmission infrastructure, and data center support systems.
- Overseas, organizes, and converts incoming CAD/GIS bid data for importing into Autodesk Civil3D or Map3D programs.
- Tracks and monitors design changes and additions/upgrades to all plans including communicating the scope of design changes to the procurement and project teams.
- Develops knowledge of financial impacts related to design with the goal of developing least cost designs that safely and efficiently satisfy design life requirements.
- Minimum of a two-year technical degree in Drafting and Design - Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical.
- Experience supporting integrated energy infrastructure projects that combine multiple technologies such as gas generation, battery energy storage systems (BESS), substations, transmission, renewable energy, and data center infrastructure.
- Utility-scale power generation experience, including combined cycle, gas turbine, or other dispatchable generation facilities.
