Sales/Home Energy Auditor (Kalamazoo Area)
Compensation:
Base: $41k - $105k depending on experience

Position Overview:
- The primary duty of the Sales/Home Energy Auditor role is to perform energy audits and develop a work scope for presentation to our clients.
- We perform Energy efficiency audits to identify home inadequacies, underlying root causes, then prescribe and prioritize solutions based on building science.
- The ideal candidate must be able to present themselves well to the homeowners/clients.
- be physically able to climb into attics and crawlspaces to identify home performance issues.
- have solid math skills to calculate areas and volumes of a home and be able to develop a presentation using an existing template shared with homeowners/clients.
- We are willing to train the right person!
Responsibilities include:
- Developing a relationship with customers.
- Setting appointments with customers.
- Visiting customer homes to perform Energy Audits and operating diagnostic equipment.
- A proven track record of turning leads into viable customer projects.
- Compile reports for tracking changes in home performance.
- Develop quotes outlining project options in Excel and create PowerPoint presentations for customers.
- Maintaining a relationship with customers and acting as their contact point through the duration of a project and beyond. Including following up with future work.
- Performing “test out” Energy Audits to verify increases in home performance, and to explain changes and their impacts to homeowners.
- Working with the Office Manager to keep the schedule up to date so you are early and well-prepared for every appointment.
- Managing materials; ordering; verifying competitive pricing, confirming delivery dates.
- Completing paperwork for our clients so they may apply for local utility company rebates: see https://www.consumersenergy.com/residential/save-money-and-energy/rebates.
- Verifying work orders with the Production Manager and field crew when not performing energy audits.
- Following up with leads and prospects when not performing energy audits or visiting project sites.
- Willing to work occasional trade shows, meet prospective clients, and produce viable leads.

- Desire and eagerness to learn about energy efficiency, building science, the environment, sustainability, and healthy homes.
- Ability to listen and ask questions with the homeowner to develop an understanding of how we can help address their needs and concerns.
- Ability to empathize, educate, and empower customers about their homes.
- Physical ability to enter confined spaces (including attics and crawlspaces).
- Ability to climb ladders to access and document home features (roof, chimney, attic vents, etc.).
- Ability to work in hot and cold temperatures over extremes.
- Maintain a clean, professional appearance and a friendly “can do” attitude.
- Strong math and visualization skills, ability to calculate linear feet, area, and volume.
- Solid computer skills (Microsoft Office), and savvy to learn industry-specific and CRM software.
- Must have a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
The ideal candidate for this position:
- Has Energy Auditing/Home Performance experience, but we are willing to train the right person!
- Understands building science and can explain complex concepts to customers.
- Is comfortable specifying energy efficiency solutions for a wide variety of homes.
- Is highly productive and self-motivated.
- Has the ability to keep projects on time and within budget.
- Knows the sales process and has a proven track record of success in sales.
- Enjoys working in a collaborative environment and understands the benefits of working for a mission-driven company.
- Has a valid Driver’s License, Chauffer’s License preferred.

- Experience having worked in the field doing energy audits and home performance work.

Total Compensation:
- Full-time hourly position (40hr/wk.).
