We're based just north of San Francisco but are a permanently remote team and we are looking to add to our team in Canada.

About the Role

As a Search Consultant, you will lead and execute retained searches by deeply understanding client objectives, quickly grasping emerging technologies, and assessing talent through a curiosity-driven interviewing approach. You’ll collaborate directly with clients, build trusted relationships with candidates, and work hand-in-hand with our research and administrative teams to deliver a seamless and thoughtful search experience.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a remote setting, values clear communication, and enjoys contributing to a positive, collaborative team dynamic.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Partnering directly with clients to understand their hiring needs and maintain an ongoing, collaborative relationship
• Interviewing and evaluating candidates using a thoughtful, curiosity-driven approach
• Guiding and supporting research teams in sourcing top-tier candidates
• Preparing high-quality candidate submission reports for clients
• Assisting clients with offer development and negotiation
• Quickly learning and understanding clients’ emerging technologies across the Climate Tech and Deep Tech sectors
• Representing Berkner Group with professionalism, empathy, and clear communication

What We’re Looking For

• A strong academic background (BS, MS, MBA, or PhD) paired with experience in executive recruiting or a relevant business field (e.g., operations, HR, sales, business development, nonprofit development)
• Experience in one or more sectors we cover, such as Renewable Energy, Electric Mobility, Energy Efficiency, Advanced Energy Storage, GridTech, Low-Carbon Fuels & Cement, Hydrogen, Industrial Biotech & Green Chemistry, Carbon Removal, Sustainable AgTech & FoodTech, Circular Economy & Advanced Materials, Robotics & Autonomy, and other emerging Climate Technologies.
• Experience working with startups, whether in-house or via an agency
• Ability to quickly understand new and innovative technologies
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A positive, team-oriented mindset with the ability to balance urgency and diplomacy
• High energy, a strong work ethic, and enthusiasm for recruiting
• Comfort working in a remote environment
• The ability to maintain at least some overlap with Pacific Time hours
• Authorization to work in Canada
• A professional Zoom or virtual work environment
