A premier law firm is seeking a Renewable Energy Tax Associate Attorney to join its highly regarded Energy and Infrastructure practice in Chicago, Illinois. This position is ideal for attorneys seeking to develop specialized expertise at the intersection of renewable energy development, federal tax law, project finance, and transactional practice.

The successful candidate will work on cutting-edge energy transition projects involving wind, solar, battery storage, and other renewable energy assets. Associates will gain exposure to sophisticated financing structures, tax equity investments, mergers and acquisitions, and tax credit monetization strategies that are helping shape the future of the energy industry.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist with the financing of renewable energy projects and infrastructure assets

• Support tax credit monetization transactions involving renewable energy developments

• Advise on federal tax issues arising in renewable energy financings

• Participate in tax equity financing transactions for wind, solar, and energy transition projects

• Assist developers, sponsors, investors, and financial institutions in structuring transactions

• Conduct legal research involving federal tax laws, regulations, and renewable energy incentives

• Review and analyze transaction documents related to project financings and acquisitions

• Support mergers, acquisitions, and strategic investments involving energy assets

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on complex renewable energy transactions

• Prepare legal memoranda and transactional analyses for clients and deal teams

• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting renewable energy tax incentives

• Assist with transaction management and closing processes

Qualifications

• Six months to 2 years of transactional tax experience

• Large law firm experience involving renewable energy transactions preferred

• Experience with tax aspects of renewable energy projects

• Familiarity with tax equity financings preferred

• Experience involving mergers and acquisitions is a plus

• Strong interest in renewable energy, infrastructure, and energy transition projects

• Excellent legal research and analytical skills

• Strong drafting and written communication abilities

• Superior organizational and project management skills

• Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities

• Active membership in the Illinois Bar or eligibility to practice in the jurisdiction
