Title: Program Manager – Electric Operations Strategy

Location: Bay Area, CA (Hybrid)

Duration: 12 Months Contract

Work Schedule: Hybrid – Approximately 20% onsite (1 day per week) at Bay Area locations, including but not limited to Dublin Innovation Center and other Bay Area offices.

Department Overview

The Electric Operations Strategy organization provides enterprise-level strategic support and operational enablement for Electric Transmission & Distribution operations. The team partners closely with leadership to translate organization-wide priorities into scalable solutions, operational processes, pilot programs, and measurable business outcomes.

The department serves as a bridge between field operations, program execution, digital enablement, data analytics, and enterprise strategy, ensuring initiatives improve safety, reliability, affordability, and operational efficiency.

Position Summary

The Program Manager, Electric Operations Strategy, is responsible for leading the planning, governance, and execution of strategic programs, pilots, and initiatives that support Electric Operations priorities. This role acts as a critical link between strategy and execution by providing structure, governance, stakeholder alignment, and operational oversight to ensure successful program delivery and sustainable business impact.

The Program Manager will collaborate closely with operations subject matter experts, data and digital teams, and executive leadership to drive transparency, resolve cross-functional dependencies, and translate strategic direction into measurable outcomes.

This is a high-visibility role focused on supporting initiatives related to wildfire risk reduction, climate adaptation, climate mitigation, operational excellence, and customer affordability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define project scope, conduct discovery sessions, and align program objectives.
  • Lead end-to-end planning and execution of strategic initiatives and programs.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to establish clear roles, responsibilities, and accountability.
  • Maintain effective communication and stakeholder engagement across partner organizations.
  • Monitor program performance, identify issues, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure successful project delivery and support pilot implementations as needed.
  • Track project milestones, deliverables, and performance metrics.
  • Provide regular status updates and executive-level reporting.
  • Coordinate operational activities and dependencies across teams.
  • Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and implement contingency plans.
  • Capture lessons learned and promote best practices.
  • Manage technical implementation plans across multiple projects.
  • Develop executive-level PowerPoint presentations and strategic communications.
  • Participate in field visits and operational reviews.
  • Support ad hoc strategic and operational initiatives as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 4–6+ years of program or project management experience.
  • Experience managing programs, initiatives, or portfolios within operations, strategy, operational excellence, or business transformation functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams and priorities.
  • Experience working within cross-functional, matrixed organizations.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience preparing leadership-level updates and supporting executive decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within utilities, energy, wildfire management, forestry, environmental programs, or climate-related initiatives.
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials.
  • Experience collaborating with executive leadership and senior management.
  • Ability to work effectively with regulatory agencies, government organizations, business partners, and customer groups.
  • Experience supporting AI, digital transformation, or technology-enabled operational initiatives.
