The position
Bax is seeking an Energy Innovation Advisor to join our Local Energy Systems team at our headquarters in Barcelona.
In this role, you will work at the intersection of business, strategy, and public-private collaboration to drive the energy transition—moving beyond applied engineering to focus on innovation management, investment planning, and policy development.
You will contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects that help cities, regions, and public authorities accelerate the deployment of local energy systems, smart grids, positive energy districts, and other innovative energy solutions. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams and international partners, you will support the design and delivery of impactful innovation projects across Europe.

Key Responsibilities include:
Strategy & Planning: Contribute to the development of city energy action plans, positive energy districts, and local energy system strategies that support the transition to a more sustainable and resilient energy future.
Innovation & Investment: Support the design of public sector-led business models, investment plans, and public-private partnerships for smart grid and local energy initiatives, helping clients turn strategic ambitions into implementable projects.
Project Delivery: Assist in managing multi-stakeholder innovation projects, delivering policy insights, coordinating project activities, and executing strategic assignments across a broad range of energy transition topics.
The candidate we are seeking
We are seeking an ambitious, fast-learning candidate with a passion for renewable energy, who is eager for career advancement in a boutique consultancy focused on real impact.
● Education: Educational or professional background in Business Administration, Engineering, Public Policy, Economics, or related fields with a clear connection to the energy sector.
● Experience: 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in the energy sector. This is not an entry-level role, but an opportunity for someone in the early stages of their consulting or energy career who is ready to grow quickly.
● Languages: Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in Dutch, German, or another European language is a strong asset.
● Proven Competences: Demonstrated interest or experience in innovation management, policy development, public-private partnerships, energy investment planning, or local energy systems.
● Soft skills: we expect a great deal of autonomy and proactivity, being able to communicate professionally with partners and clients, managing and leading discussions and public presentations.
