The position

We are currently offering one position as an Innovation Consultant for our team working on Business Development, with a focus on Industry and Energy Technology.

Business Development is a newly built, cross-cutting team at Bax that identifies and develops new business opportunities -both through funded programmes and direct commercial advisory work- while building and nurturing relationships with clients and partners, including public and private innovation actors. The team also drives internal best practices that support the company’s overall growth, from commercial processes to tools that help teams work smarter.

This is an exciting moment to join: you’ll help shape a growing team from the ground up, with real influence over how it’s structured and how it operates.

You will be working at our Barcelona headquarters, focusing on the business development of our Industry-related teams. Your main responsibilities will include:

● Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities in the energy sector and beyond, reinforcing our value proposition and expanding our portfolio of strategic consulting services with existing and prospective clients, including both public and private innovation actors.

●Supporting the entire sales pipeline, from lead generation and outreach to offer development and negotiations. Developing, securing and managing strategic partnerships (e.g. framework contracts).

Monitoring calls for funding and tenders, exploring new opportunities at EU level, and playing a key role in funded project development and partner roles, alongside direct advisory work.

● Building and maintaining structured business development processes — contract and offer standardisation, lead tracking, and internal playbooks — to support the team’s growth.

● Using data and automation tools to strengthen how we track leads, pipeline performance, and business KPIs.

●Representing the company at target conferences and events, engaging with key EU and energy-sector stakeholders to reinforce and expand our innovation network.

The candidates we are seeking

We seek commercially-minded, resourceful candidates with 2-5 years of relevant professional experience in business development, sales, or EU relations, who bring a strong affinity for energy, innovation, and structured ways of working, and are ready to take ownership in a highly specialised consultancy firm.

Background and profile: dedicated education and background in energy-related studies, combined with interest and experience in business development activities (Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s is a plus). Experience with EU funding programmes, funded partner roles, or project development is a strong plus, as is experience in strategy consultancy or other innovation management positions.

Languages: professional English, both written and oral, is essential. Additionally, we value fluency in our clients’ native languages such as Dutch, German, French and Spanish.

● Proactivity & facilitation: autonomy and comfort navigating a fast-evolving, still-forming team structure, with the confidence to manage stakeholders and lead discussions and public presentations independently.

Commercial relationship & communication: ability to build and sustain long-term commercial relationships, lead negotiations, and communicate clearly and professionally with clients and partners.

Analytical and process skills: ability to analyse market data and business KPIs, and build and maintain the structured processes that keep a growing team running smoothly — tender and funding monitoring, contract and offer templates, and internal playbooks — leveraging AI and automation tools where useful.
