Solar Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technician

Position: Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technician
Location: Old Bridge, NJ (On-Site, Full-Time)
Travel: Regular travel required across New Jersey and surrounding states
The O&M Technician will be a critical member of our operations team, responsible for keeping our solar fleet running at peak performance. This role is hands-on and field-based, involving regular site visits to perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs to ensure optimal system functionality.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and inspections on solar PV systems.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair system issues to minimize downtime.
- Monitor system performance and respond promptly to alerts or underperformance events.
- Maintain strict compliance with all safety protocols and regulatory standards.
- Accurately document work performed, including test results, repairs, and materials used.
- Coordinate with the operations team to prioritize work, schedule repairs, and order parts.
- Travel daily to multiple sites (with occasional overnight travel as needed).
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with solar PV systems, including maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair (required).
- Solid knowledge of electrical and mechanical maintenance techniques.
- Proven ability to follow preventive maintenance procedures and resolve technical issues independently.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think on your feet in the field.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Highly self-motivated and capable of working independently while staying connected with the team.
- Degree, associate degree, or technical certification in electrical, renewable energy, or a related field preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (required).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions.
- Comfortable with climbing ladders, accessing rooftops, and working at heights.
- Ability to stand, kneel, and bend for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to travel frequently and work in remote field locations.
