Social Media Manager, Climate Advocacy - Volunteer
Join Bank.Green to help expose how banks fund the climate crisis and inspire change. As our Social Media Manager, you’ll create and schedule posts, grow our Instagram following, and engage our global audience to move money toward climate-friendly banks.
What difference will you make?
This role is essential to Bank.Green’s mission to shift money away from banks that fund fossil fuels toward those supporting a climate-safe future. Most people don’t realise how their bank affects the planet. By managing our social media, you’ll help turn complex finance and climate issues into clear, engaging stories that inspire action.
Your work will expand our reach, especially on Instagram, and drive more people to question their banks’ climate impact or switch to greener options. You’ll showcase key findings from our research, share updates from campaigns, and highlight stories of change—helping translate awareness into measurable impact.
A strong social-media presence also strengthens our partnerships with other climate organisations and green banks, allowing them to amplify our message and collaborate on advocacy. Every post, comment, and interaction you create helps push banks toward accountability and transparency.
In short, your contribution will transform Bank.Green’s online presence into a powerful tool for education and action—mobilising thousands of people to use their financial choices for climate good.
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for a creative, reliable communicator who’s passionate about climate action and skilled at translating ideas into engaging online content. The ideal volunteer will have experience managing or contributing to social media accounts, particularly Instagram, and understand how to use storytelling and visuals to inspire audiences.
Strong writing skills are essential, as is the ability to adapt tone and style for different platforms. Familiarity with social media tools such as Canva, Buffer, or Meta Business Suite is helpful, as is an eye for design and attention to detail. An understanding of digital metrics and how to measure engagement would be a plus.
We value curiosity, initiative, and consistency over formal qualifications. If you’re someone who cares deeply about the environment, enjoys crafting messages that motivate others, and can commit a few hours each week, you’ll be a great fit for this role.
What will you be doing?
You’ll manage and grow Bank.Green’s social media presence to help people understand the link between banking and the climate crisis. This includes creating and scheduling posts, writing captions, working with our graphic designer on visuals, and engaging directly with followers. A key focus will be growing our Instagram audience and developing content that highlights how people can use their financial power for good. You’ll collaborate with our small, international communications team to plan campaigns, track performance, and share impact stories from across the world.
