Role Overview

The Design for Impact Lead will be the creative force behind Baeru’s storytelling, ensuring that our mission resonates powerfully across local communities, policymakers, and global stakeholders.

This role requires a visionary who can bridge design, culture, and sustainability—crafting everything from grassroots campaigns to digital experiences. You’ll lead Baeru’s design direction, mentor creative talent, and shape narratives that turn data into movements, and movements into impact.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

Creative Direction & Brand Building

  • Define and execute Baeru’s visual identity across all mediums, ensuring brand consistency.
  • Shape compelling design narratives that highlight Baeru’s climate action impact.


Strategic Partnerships & Storytelling

  • Collaborate with artists, cultural influencers, and media partners to amplify Baeru’s voice.
  • Experiment with folk and cultural art forms (e.g., Yakshagana, street art) to connect communities with climate narratives.


Community-Centered Co-Creation

  • Work directly with grassroots communities, fisheries cooperatives, and waste workers to co-create campaigns.
  • Infuse designs with cultural nuance and behavioral science insights to drive adoption.


Team Leadership & Growth

  • Build, mentor, and inspire a team of designers and creatives.
  • Foster a culture of experimentation, collaboration, and sustainability-first design.


Sustainable & Circular Design

  • Apply circular economy principles to products, packaging, and campaigns.
  • Champion eco-conscious design practices that reduce waste and maximize impact.


Data Visualization & Communication

  • Translate complex waste management and climate data into clear, engaging visual formats.
  • Create tools and infographics that help stakeholders understand, act, and advocate.


Digital Experience & UX/UI

  • Collaborate with Baeru’s tech team to design user-friendly interfaces for waste traceability platforms.
  • Ensure digital solutions are accessible, engaging, and behaviorally informed.


Who You Are (Qualifications & Skills)

  • Design Strategist: Proven experience leading creative initiatives, with a strong portfolio demonstrating impact-focused design.
  • Team Leader: Skilled in building and mentoring creative teams; able to balance vision with execution.
  • Community Connector: Experience in participatory design with local communities, sensitive to cultural dynamics.
  • Sustainability Champion: Deep understanding of circular design and proven track record in eco-conscious solutions.
  • Tech-Savvy Creative: Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and open to emerging tech (AR/VR a plus).
  • Compelling Communicator: Able to tell stories visually and verbally, translating complexity into clarity.
  • Agile Innovator: Thrives in fast-moving environments; comfortable experimenting and adapting to new challenges.
