THE ROLE

We are offering a 1 year Junior associate position within our UK & Ireland team, based at our Stuttgart office, starting Q2 2026. In this role you will play an integral part in supporting our consultancy and platform projects, working closely with experienced colleagues across a range of exciting smart city and climate action programmes.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Actively contribute to consultancy projects spanning climate action and smart places initiatives in the UK and Ireland, as well as EU co-funded Smart Cities and Communities projects.

  • Conduct market research specific to the UK & Ireland, exploring policy mechanisms, new funding initiatives, networking events, and innovative solutions within the realm of climate action and smart cities.

  • Support the team in preparing reports, presentations, and client deliverables.

  • Engage with public sector stakeholders, municipalities, and regional authorities as part of ongoing project work.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for curious, driven individuals who are passionate about sustainability, innovation, and urban change. You don't need to be an expert in everything — but you should have a genuine interest in the topics below and the ambition to grow quickly.

- Basic understanding of climate action and energy transition concepts — e.g. net-zero, renewable energy, emissions reduction. Deep technical expertise is not required.

- Awareness of the EU policy and funding landscape — e.g. Horizon Europe, ERDF, LIFE, EUCF, EUI — even at a high level.

  • Foundational knowledge of economic development concepts — e.g. regional growth, clusters, skills development, SME support.

  • General understanding of urban challenges and smart city topics — e.g. mobility, energy, digitalisation, sustainability.

  • Interest in innovation ecosystems and emerging technologies — e.g. startups, AI, accelerators, digital hubs.

  • Awareness of how public sector organisations operate — e.g. municipalities, regional authorities, stakeholder environments.

  • Ability to connect different topics — climate, economy, innovation — in a structured and logical way.

Skills & Attributes

- Problem-Solving: Embrace challenges with critical thinking and make meaningful contributions to consultancy projects.

- Research Skills: Strong research ability across market trends, policy landscapes, technology, and urban development.

- Communication: Confident written and verbal communication skills — able to work effectively in an international, multidisciplinary team.
