Research Assistant

We are seeking skilled and motivated Research Assistants to join our associate network on a contract-by-contract basis. This role is ideal for early-career researchers, postgraduates, or professionals with strong analytical and writing skills who are looking to gain hands-on experience across a range of applied research and consultancy projects.
As a Research Assistant, you will support the delivery of individual projects, which may include:
- Literature reviews and data analysis
- Preparation of technical reports and evidence summaries
- GIS or spatial data handling (if applicable to your skillset)
- Stakeholder engagement support (e.g., workshop notes, survey analysis)
- Administrative and coordination support for fieldwork or events
Each appointment will be on a per-project contract basis, typically lasting from a few weeks to several months, depending on the assignment.
Desirable:
- Degree (or postgraduate qualification) in environmental science, geography, sustainability, public policy, or a related discipline
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Ability to work independently and communicate clearly within a distributed team
- Experience with GIS, statistical analysis, or qualitative research
- Understanding of UK public sector, environmental, or policy contexts
- Previous experience in consultancy, research, or government-funded projects
