Job Description

To achieve these outcomes, AVPN offers Asia-based opportunities for global social investor partnership for sustainable capital flow, deepens knowledge about the cross-cutting impact from climate change on key development issues, and strengthens Asian social investors participation and leadership in global sustainability issues.

This Senior Associate will support the team to better engage with and deliver on the climate funders’ and AVPN members’ needs. They will support and lead a range of tasks as required to design, manage, and deliver The Climate Action programmes effectively and to scope, deepen, and grow Climate Action portfolio through new partnerships. This position will report to the Director, Climate Action.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Climate Action team in project planning and delivery of milestones on key Climate Action projects, including developing work plans, managing project budgets, communications, procurement processes, and in monitoring project performance to meet project objectives.
  • Support the design and delivery of climate track at AVPN signature events and the curation and delivery of investor roundtables and engagements through creation of content, facilitation at events, and other support, as needed.
  • Support the Climate Action team in identifying new opportunities for partnership and collaboration with existing and potential funders and members.
  • Work with the Climate Action and relevant AVPN teams to scope emerging leads and provide support in developing concept notes and proposals.
  • Support the Climate Action team in managing data inputs to assess progress on Climate Action's annual plans, support on funder reporting requirements, support the team with analytical inputs, and ensure that all information on member engagement activities are accurately recorded and maintained in relevant AVPN databases.
  • All Senior Associates at AVPN form part of the Associate Pool which offers opportunities for getting involved with a range of projects across the organisation to support professional development and growth.
  • Undertake any other ad hoc tasks as needed to support the overall operations of the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as climate and sustainability, economics, business administration, public policy, or a relevant field with domain expertise on climate issues, particularly climate finance, energy transition, natural resource management and nature-based solutions.
  • Minimum 2-3 years experience of project and grant management and strong operational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to prioritise effectively
  • Knowledge of climate philanthropy and investing, and developing collaborative investor action are highly desired but not mandatory.
  • Experience of market scoping activities and of development of proposals, concept notes, and other relevant collateral to develop new collaborations and projects.
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated attention to detail and focus on producing high-quality deliverables.
  • Strong written and spoken English.
