We are seeking an on-site Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support our engineering and operations teams at our Maryland office.
Position Summary
The Assistant Project Manager will work in the office full-time, supporting senior PMs with scheduling, documentation, procurement, production coordination, and project communication for SCADA, control system, and panel manufacturing projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination
- Support PMs with schedules, milestones, deliverables, and weekly updates.
- Track action items and coordinate between engineering, panel shop, and field technicians.
- Assist with submittals, RFIs, change orders, and close-out packages.
- Maintain well-organized project files, drawings, BOMs, and revisions.
Client & Vendor Communication
- Prepare meeting minutes, follow-up summaries, and professional email correspondence.
- Coordinate vendor quotes, equipment orders, logistics, and deliveries.
- Support communication with GCs, utilities, municipalities, and transit authorities.
Financial & Procurement Support
- Assist with POs, invoices, subcontractor payments, and tracking project costs.
- Help prepare SOVs, progress billing, and financial updates.
- Support procurement of PLCs, RTUs, network hardware, relays, enclosures, power supplies, etc.
Operations & Technical Support
(Not an engineering role, but interacts with technical documentation and workflows)
- Work with the panel shop to track production, materials, and delivery status.
- Help organize drawings, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and test documentation.
- Coordinate Factory Acceptance Test scheduling, site access, and safety paperwork.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (Construction Management, Engineering, or related), not required.
- 5 years of experience in construction, engineering, operations, project coordination, or similar.
- Experience in electrical, SCADA, or automation environments is a plus, not a requirement.
Skills
- Strong organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Excel, and project tools.
- Ability to read or understand technical drawings.
