BESS Senior Project Engineer

AVA Energy have partnered with a growing energy company specialising in battery energy storage systems to appoint a Senior BESS Project Engineer into their Project Delivery team. The business is focused on supporting the continued growth of renewable energy and the increasing need for flexible, large-scale energy storage. Through the development and operation of utility-scale battery projects, they are helping to build a more flexible and resilient energy system.

Responsibilities

• Support the engineering and delivery of utility-scale BESS projects, from Ready to Build through construction, commissioning and handover to Asset Management.
• Manage, mentor and support a team of engineers, providing technical direction, guidance and oversight to ensure high-quality project delivery and effective collaboration.
• Provide technical input throughout project development, including reviewing project documentation, technical feasibility, tender offers and contractor proposals, while guiding engineers and supporting the wider team with technical knowledge and expertise.
• Manage technical risks during execution, working closely with the Project Manager, contractors and Owner’s Engineer through construction, testing and commissioning.

Must haves

• 3+ years’ experience on energy construction projects, ideally within BESS.
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems and BESS technologies, with the ability to assess technical risks, solve engineering challenges and support and guide other engineers.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, fluent business-level English, conversational German, and a valid EU Class B driving licence (or equivalent recognised in Germany).
