Job Description

We're partnered with a well-established, environmentally focused industrial solutions provider that has been operating for decades. The company delivers sustainable, engineered-to-order systems for water heating, wastewater treatment, and energy recovery—serving industries such as renewable energy, semiconductor manufacturing, power generation, and water treatment. They are purpose-driven, with a strong culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

The Engineering Manager will play a key leadership role in overseeing the safe, code-compliant design of complex capital equipment systems, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to scope. This individual will set engineering standards, guide the development of custom-engineered-to-order solutions, and build a high-performance team through lean practices and coaching.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a responsive engineering team from order receipt through commissioning.

  • Develop and maintain equipment, component, and design standards while evaluating emerging technologies.

  • Drive lean/value engineering practices to optimize cost, performance, and manufacturability.

  • Standardize components and systems to streamline design cycles and improve efficiency.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, operations, and supply chain to improve throughput and reduce lead times.

  • Manage budgets, capital-expenditure requests, and resource allocation.

  • Establish KPIs and business systems that align engineering performance with company goals.

  • Mentor and develop a cross-trained, high-performance engineering team.

  • Lead design reviews, risk assessments, and ensure compliance with ASME, UL, NFPA, ISO 9001, and internal quality standards.

  • Own engineering documentation (P&IDs, CAD models, BOMs, manuals) with rigorous revision control and ERP/PLM integration.

  • Manage external suppliers and engineering partners to ensure quality and compliance.

  • Support proposals with technical expertise and cost estimates during pre-sales activities.

  • Champion lean tools and document best practices to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering field.

  • 5+ years of progressive engineering experience in capital-equipment design, with at least 3 years in an engineered-to-order environment.

  • Strong fundamentals in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and process design; exposure to combustion and wastewater treatment.

  • At least 2 years leading a multidiscipline engineering team.

  • Experience supporting field service and customer technical support.

  • Proven track record implementing lean engineering, product standardization, and cost-reduction initiatives.

  • Familiarity with ASME, AWS, UL, NSF, NEC, NFPA, and IEC standards.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Travel

  • Less than 20%

Additional Notes

This role requires someone comfortable balancing hands-on engineering leadership with team management, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will bring both technical depth and the ability to grow and mentor a high-performance engineering team.
