About The Team
Within our System Design division, the Onboarding & Connections team plays a critical role in shaping the future of the National Electricity Market by connecting the next generation of renewable and emerging energy technologies. With more than 160GW of new generation expected to connect over the coming decades, our team works alongside developers, network service providers, governments, regulators and industry leaders to bring renewable energy projects from concept to reality. Together, we're enabling a cleaner, more reliable energy future for all Australians.
About The Role
This is a newly created leadership opportunity for a passionate engineering professional looking to influence one of the largest energy transformations in the world. As Team Lead – Connections (Transmission), you'll lead a high-performing technical team responsible for supporting generator and load connections through the National Electricity Market. You'll combine technical leadership, stakeholder engagement and people development to help accelerate the connection of renewable energy, battery storage, data centre and hydro projects.
Reporting to the Regional Engineering Manager, this role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane and offers flexible working arrangements that support work-life balance and meaningful career development.

What You Will Be Doing
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of engineers, fostering technical capability, growth and mentoring.
- Provide technical leadership across generator and load connection projects that are critical to Australia's energy transition.
- Partner with developers, network service providers, government agencies and industry stakeholders to deliver practical, outcome-focused solutions.
- Drive technical excellence in power system performance, system strength, registration and commissioning activities.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance connection processes and industry outcomes.
- Manage team resources and priorities to support the successful delivery of complex and time-critical projects.
- Represent AEMO in industry forums, working groups and stakeholder engagements, building trusted relationships across the energy sector.
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with experience in power systems.
- Proven leadership experience, with a passion for developing and mentoring technical teams.
- Strong knowledge of generator and load connections, power system performance, registration and commissioning processes.
- Experience delivering complex technical projects and influencing outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and practical insights.
- A collaborative, solution-focused mindset and a genuine desire to contribute to Australia's energy transition.
