RWE Clean Energy is a leading player in the renewable energy sector, committed to driving sustainable solutions for a cleaner future. As we continue to expand our portfolio of energy projects, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sr. Asset Management Associate to join our dynamic team.

RWE Clean Energy's Asset Management team takes accountability for the commercial success of a >12 GW portfolio of renewable energy assets. Through the close collaboration with Operations & Maintenance and various Financial stakeholders the team drives tactical and strategic initiatives optimizing the performance of all assets.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Asset Manager in driving the profitability of wind, solar, and battery storage assets, by analyzing operational and financial performance and identifying the causes for underperformance
  • Support the development, and execution of cost-reduction or performance optimization strategies
  • Monitor asset KPIs and perform trend analysis to detect performance issues, investigate underperformance, and develop and implement strategies to maximize the operational performance of renewable energy assets; manage technical issues to ensure strategies are fully analyzed, and appropriate solutions developed and implemented
  • Assist in the budgeting, forecasting, and asset-level financials to identify opportunities and risk
  • Manage select vendor/service provider relationships and assist in contract alignment reviews
  • Provide detailed reporting and insights to internal stakeholders on operational and financial performance
  • Stay abreast of relevant regulations and ensure compliance with regulatory obligations (i.e., local, state, and federal, including environmental permits) and internal governance processes.
  • Implement and continuously improve local asset management systems and processes consistent with organizational policies and standards
  • Coordinate across departments to resolve asset-level issues, communicate clearly with cross-functional partners, presents findings in meetings with Asset Manager supervision. Establish collaborative relationships with key support departments such as Operations, Engineering, HSSE, Procurement, and Controlling

Job Requirements and Experiences:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field and/or 2 additional years of comparable work experience; Master's degree or professional certification is a plus
  • Minimum 3 years experience in the renewable energy sector
  • Asset Management, Operations, or Controlling experience is highly desirable
  • Experience in asset management and/or technical expertise in the renewable energy industry
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements (esp. PJM, MISO)
  • Applies operational, financial, and contractual knowledge to drive asset performance
  • Understands key KPIs and data resources
  • Investigate root causes of asset issues using trend analysis
  • Recommends standard corrective actions
  • Coordinates across departments to resolve asset-level issues
  • Presents findings in meetings with moderate supervision
  • Owns performance tracking for a set of assets or region
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills
  • Strong commercial acumen and entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to translate technical findings into commercial implications
  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables, and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to manage internal/external relationships
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
  • Detail-oriented and has a sound understanding of business concepts

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois is $90,000 - $130,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
