About The Role
We are seeking a professional to join our interdisciplinary team specializing in the mining sector. The ideal candidate will combine in-depth knowledge of climate data and models with the ability to apply this knowledge to the specific context of mining, developing adaptation and mitigation strategies:
- Develop and review GHG inventories (Scopes 1, 2, 3) for mining and infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, and regulatory requirements.
- Quantify and assess emissions across operations and supply chains to support baseline definition, decarbonization scenarios, and identification of reduction opportunities.
- Integrate GHG results into technical studies, environmental licensing, ESG/TCFD/ISSB reporting, and carbon management strategies.
- Evaluate climate risks for mining operations using advanced climate data and models.
- Interpret global and regional climate model outputs and translate them into operational insights.
- Develop and refine climate‑risk models tailored to mining activities and future climate scenarios.
- Recommend adaptation and mitigation strategies to enhance climate resilience.
- Monitor and report climate indicators relevant to operational risk and performance.
- Propose science‑based solutions to reduce environmental impact and strengthen resilience.
- Support internal teams through training and awareness on climate risks and adaptation.
- 4–5 years of experience working with climate data and climate models, preferably in the mining sector.
- Strong expertise in climate data analysis techniques and climate modeling.
- Familiarity with climate‑change adaptation strategies, including their design and/or implementation.
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and communicate complex results clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of climate‑related and mining‑related regulations and policies.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills in Spanish; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
