Based in NYC and reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Senior Director of Information Technology will be charged with leading strategy and a team that delivers the IT infrastructure, solutions, and services that enable Audubon’s work to further its mission. The Senior Director of IT will lead a team responsible for delivering the optimal secure and cloud-oriented infrastructure and related user support across all Audubon locations including the NYC and DC headquarters, 20+ state offices, and 30+ Audubon nature centers. The role also oversees the roadmap and management of enterprise platforms and applications that underly Audubon’s work encompassing constituent management, fundraising, and back office operations, and will work with business peers to ensure that appropriate data governance processes are in place for those platforms.
Essential Functions:- Working with the CTO, provide strategic thinking and leadership of Audubon’s IT function, including defining the roadmap of work, engaging in cross-organization priority initiatives, managing a $2M+ non-personnel budget, and ensuring successful delivery of IT solutions.
- Lead strategy, roadmap, and implementation related to operational enterprise systems, including Salesforce and Blackbaud Financial Edge.
- Select and deploy solutions for back office operations, including those supporting HR, finance, and program tracking and time management.
- Lead a customer-first help desk service that provides IT support and access to onboarding and training resources where available.
- Manage cloud infrastructure behind web, mobile, business, and data applications and services, and oversee remaining migrations to cloud services.
- Manage lifecycle of devices and other technology assets from roll out, ongoing asset inventory management, upgrades, and deprecation.
- Implement and support access and collaboration tools and services such as Okta, Box, Sharepoint, Zoom, Slack, and all audio/video/VOIP infrastructure.
- Ensure IT subject matter expertise on Mac/PC/mobile devices, network and firewall devices, Wi-Fi access points, printers, and other relevant hardware.
- Lead security operations and disaster recovery programs, working with external fractional CISO as necessary.
- Recruit, develop, and oversee a small but highly successful team of network and system administrators, business analysts, and other key IT staff and managers.
- Evaluate, select, onboard and oversee third-party vendors as necessary.
- Partner with leaders of the Audubon network across state offices and nature centers to provide field-specific solutions and services to those physical locations, including point-of-sale and other customer-facing technology solutions.
- Collaborate with Engineering team to implement and maintain custom standalone or enterprise platform applications and integrations, when appropriate.
- Collaborate with Digital Products team to manage robust and reliable infrastructure hosting web and mobile applications, with uptime monitoring and well-defined incident response processes.
- Collaborate with Data & Analytics team to manage cloud infrastructure for data warehousing, data science, reporting, and analysis, with appropriate security and data governance mechanisms.
- 10+ years of progressive IT professional experience, including at least 3 years at a management level with comparable staff and budget responsibilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related quantitative field strongly preferred.
- Proven experience in IT infrastructure strategic planning, delivery, project management, and policy development.
- Proven experience leading support services and customer-service-oriented teams.
- Proven experience with management, leadership, and technology of cloud infrastructure services such as AWS and Azure.
- Proven experience working with third-party vendors and managed services.
- Proven experience leading strong, collaborative teams.
- Management and/or leadership experience with enterprise Salesforce implementations strongly preferred.
- Experience managing technology across federated field offices and public-facing locations preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to discuss technical information to non-technical audiences.
