Position Summary:
Reporting to the Interim Engagement Director of Audubon North Carolina, the Engagement Associate will coordinate many aspects of the annual Advocacy Day (March 22, 2023), including working closely with volunteer chapter advocacy chairs. The Engagement Associate will also provide general communications support, including writing, producing, and posting social media posts, web content, and emails.

The ideal candidate will be a quick learner with good attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple projects at one time, as well as great interpersonal skills. The Engagement Associate will regularly interface with North Carolina staff and volunteers. The position is a temporary, part-time role. Remote work is an option but must be located in North Carolina.

$17.00 - $19.00 / hour
Essential Functions:
  • Implement elements of Advocacy Day plan related to recruiting advocates, training and supporting volunteer advocacy leaders, and event logistics.
  • Create, edit, and post social media content (bird-forward content, Advocacy Day content, and conservation-work content) to our state pages (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram).
  • Coordinate, build and distribute emails for state programs, including monthly newsletter, event promotion, and advocacy emails.
  • Create and disseminate materials related to Advocacy Day, including social media toolkits and email communications with Advocacy Day volunteer leaders.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in communications, science, or policy, and 0-2 years’ experience in a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Excellent writing skills with a knack for online communications and crafting messaging for multiple, specific audiences.
  • Tech-savviness and ability to learn how to use tools to manage online communications; tools will include EveryAction, Mobilize, Googlesheets, and Asana, and training will be provided.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
  • A willingness to travel, as needed, and participate in programs occurring during and after typical business hours.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
