About the Role
Auckland Airport is looking for two Senior Sustainability Advisors to join our team and help deliver Auckland Airport's sustainability strategic priorities. One is a full-time permanent role, and the other is a 6-month maternity leave cover.
Both roles will be part of the Sustainability team, working collaboratively with the other members of the team, as well as other teams across the business.
 

What you will be doing 
We're looking for candidates who bring complementary skills and expertise. While each role will have its own focus, combined with the skills and experiences of the Sustainability team, will cover a broad range of responsibilities across strategy, reporting, stakeholder engagement and implementation.

 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Reporting: Lead or contribute to Auckland Airport's climate-related disclosure process and greenhouse gas inventory
  • Strategy development: Lead and contribute to the development of sustainability strategies that are aligned with business objectives
  • Strategy implementation: Lead the implementation of sustainability strategies and activities, with an initial focus on the waste minimisation strategy, transport benefits, and broader outcomes.
  • Stakeholder engagement and collaboration: Engage with internal and external stakeholders to build partnerships and drive sustainability on the Auckland Airport precinct and wider industry
  • Continuous improvement and benchmarking: Provide expert advice on emerging trends, risks and opportunities in sustainability

 

What you'll bring to the role:

To fill the two roles, we're looking for people who are strategic thinkers with an ability to collaborate and influence to achieve change across a diverse and complex organisation. We're primarily looking for Senior Sustainability Advisors who have experience across a diverse range of sustainability topics. However, we're also open to applications from subject matter experts in the areas of aviation decarbonisation, climate risk and reporting or waste minimisation.
 

To ensure your success in this role, you will need:  

  • A minimum of seven years' experience with a proven track record of leading sustainability initiatives within complex organisation. Aviation experience is desirable.
  • A tertiary qualification in environmental science, climate change, sustainability, engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience developing and implementing sustainability strategies that are aligned with business objectives. Waste minimisation experience is desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation skills to people at all levels of the business, from operational teams through to leadership.
  • Strategic and critical thinking skills to evaluate multiple solutions and articulate strengths and weaknesses clearly and make connections to wider business objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to influence and build relationships across diverse groups
  • Project management skills and an ability to prioritise across multiple workstreams.
