Senior Embedded Engineer (m/f/x)
At atmio, we're building technology that helps the oil & gas industry drastically cut methane emissions. One of the most powerful levers we have in the fight against climate change. Our gas measurement devices make invisible emissions visible, so operators can act fast.
We are looking for a Senior Embedded Engineer to own the firmware that powers our devices — from architecture to field deployment. You will partner with a capable junior engineer who has already built working firmware, bring the senior layer, and scale the firmware function as our product line grows.

We are looking for a Senior Embedded Engineer to own the firmware that powers our devices — from architecture to field deployment. You will partner with a capable junior engineer who has already built working firmware, bring the senior layer, and scale the firmware function as our product line grows.
Key Responsibilities ?
- Design, develop, and maintain RTOS-based firmware in C/C++ on ARM Cortex M4
- Implement communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART) and IoT connectivity (LTE-M, NB-IoT, BLE)
- Optimize firmware for ultra-low power consumption and long-term field reliability
- Build out CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and code review standards
- Mentor our junior firmware engineer and collaborate with hardware, electronics, and app teams on commissioning, validation, and debugging
- thrive in environments where you have real ownership — not just a ticket queue
- enjoy elevating an existing codebase rather than starting from scratch
- like being the person who builds the processes, not just follows them
- want to make a tangible, positive impact on our planet ?
Skills & experience you will need ?
- Expert-level C/C++ with proven experience delivering embedded firmware to production
- Solid understanding of RTOS concepts and real-time software architecture
- Hands-on experience with microcontroller peripherals, memory management, and HW-SW integration
- Working knowledge of communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, LTE-M, NB-IoT, BLE)
- Comfortable reading schematics and using lab equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer)
- Experience with ATEX / Intrinsic Safety (Ex i) design constraints
- Experience with RF/IoT hardware integration (e.g., LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, LTE-M, BLE)
- Familiarity with mechanical CAD design (e.g., Fusion360, SolidWorks) to easily align with mechanical engineers
- Experience with gas measurement devices (methane, ethan, hydrogen)
