Overview

AtkinsRéalis is one of the key delivery partners for the Toronto Pearson Airport expansion and redevelopment. We are hiring a Climate Change & Carbon Manager to join our growing team. This role will support the successful delivery of complex projects within the organization, ensuring that they are executed taking into consideration climate change and carbon management practices. The program requires a wealth of experience in managing large infrastructure projects, particularly in the context of international airport development or other similar complex programs.

Your role

  • Provide climate change and carbon management inputs into various resiliency programs, including Net Zero, and Climate risk assessment and management.
  • Confirm that the climate change and carbon management approach to the relevant works is consistent with GTAA's vision and strategy for a sustainable, carbon-positive, and environmentally friendly future.
  • Confirm that facilities design considers self-sustaining circular ecosystems, energy efficient design, minimization of embedded carbon, use of clean energy and other infrastructure requirements for the reduction of the overall carbon footprint to achieve Net-Zero GHG.
  • Oversight of Resiliency Planning Specialist to periodically update climate forecasts and ensure that facilities and infrastructure maintain operational resilience to changes in extreme weather forecasted due to climate change.
  • Coordinate with Stakeholder Relations and Communications (SR&C) and external stakeholders on all areas of sustainability strategy.
  • Confirm that the design considers self-sustaining circular ecosystems and infrastructure requirements, water harnessing to aid in irrigation and stormwater management, innovative solutions to waste and pollution management, and the reduction of the overall carbon footprint.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and supporting the career development of GTAA staff.

About You

  • Recognized degree in a related engineering, planning, or sustainability field and professional certification (PE, CEM, LEED AP, ENV SP).
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in the environment, energy, or sustainable design sector, including at least 5 years delivering sustainability outcomes in the infrastructure sector; experience in large, complex programs is considered an asset.
  • Holistic understanding of sustainability and Net Zero, including decarbonization (Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions), climate risk assessment and management, and climate resiliency planning.
  • Demonstrable understanding of sustainability/ESG frameworks, Net Zero GHG strategies, and climate accounting, management, and disclosure standards and guidance.
  • Strong technical capability across all project phases, with the ability to solve complex problems using data analytics to support solution identification.

Expected compensation for this role is (between Pay Range $100,200 - $137,700 annually) (Only Applicable to Ontario). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
