Gain hands-on experience working on a wide range of transport systems—including active travel, public transport, and highways—while shaping policies, strategies, and projects that improve travel for everyone.
Your role
Our graduate development programme is designed to give you an insight into many areas of work, and the chance to explore where your own skills and interests lie. It features a series of training events and modules, professional development, mentoring and on-the-job experience as well as practical skills development.
From day one, you'll work on real projects that offer scale and variety, collaborating with colleagues and creating meaningful impact on the world around us. You'll work towards your professional accreditation (where applicable) - whichever path you take, your future starts here.

Our deadline for applications is Sunday, 4th January 2026. However, as our graduate development programmes are incredibly popular, we recommend that you apply early as some roles may close sooner.

Your role
- Designing people-focused transport solutions and positively influencing travel behaviours to support more sustainable and inclusive mobility—now and into the future.
- Supporting planning applications and infrastructure delivery by securing development consent and discharging planning conditions.
- Building robust business cases and conducting economic analysis to guide and justify transport investment decisions.
- Enhancing how people navigate and experience spaces, ensuring transport systems are inclusive, efficient, and accessible to all.
- Research, policy and scheme development to get more people using rail, bus and active forms of transport.
- Working with clients to shape and define objectives, solve complex challenges, and identify the most effective policy, service, and infrastructure interventions.
- Using data-driven insights and modelling tools to assess current and future transport scenarios, helping clients understand the impact of their decisions.
- Creating vibrant, connected, and resilient places for communities that enhance quality of life.
- On track to achieve a minimum Level 8 degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent accredited engineering discipline).
- A passion for working in a consultancy environment.
- Championing a culture where everyone belongs.
- A desire to work collaboratively with a curious approach, challenging yourself to find new solutions.
- Enthusiasm and drive to develop your skillset and seek out development opportunities within a supportive team.
- Motivation to achieve professional accreditation (where applicable).
- Comfortably embrace agile ways of working and learning new technologies.
- Commitment to spend a minimum of three days a week in the office or on client site (project dependent). Being together in person helps us build stronger relationships, collaborate more effectively, and accelerate your learning and development.
