To support an expansion of our Advisory team on the East Coast, we are currently seeking a Senior Consultant for our Technical Advisory team. You will work within an existing and growing team; providing advice related to the procurement, development, and financing of a broad range of infrastructure projects that include transportation, energy, water, telecommunications, and others – delivered with an increasing focus on sustainability, decarbonization, resilience and ESG principles.
In particular, we are recruiting to meet the demands across a number of infrastructure projects and continued demand for our technical due diligence advisory services. We are looking for candidates who have some experience in the infrastructure sector – ideally with consulting/ advisory experience in a due diligence capacity. Experience in data centers is preferred but not required. This is a great opportunity to be part of a rapidly-growing advisory team in the United States. This role can be based out of our New York City or Washington, DC office.

New York City Hiring Range – The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in New York City is $158,400 to $185,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of New York City will differ.

The Opportunity
- Lead client-facing role for technical, commercial, and/or financial infrastructure advisory engagement.
- Undertake technical due diligence on behalf of investors and lenders: examining a broad range of issues, such as energy demand assessment, future capital investment needs, operating strategy, local infrastructure requirements and many more.
- You will support the team in the development and assessment of business cases for new energy and/or infrastructure projects, working with developers, financiers, state and local agencies.
- Actively participate in Arup business development and pursuit of new work and client.
- Mentor junior staff to develop analytical and consulting skills.
- Work with clients in activities such as client meetings, presentations, workshops etc.
- Request, manage and review relevant project data, studies, plans, and contextual issues.
- Conduct technical, contractual, planning, economic, and/or financial analysis.
- Lead and interact with other engineering specialists for inputs into due diligence studies, operational performance improvement, and other infrastructure advisory assignments.
- Prepare analyses, draw conclusions, make recommendations.
- Prepare and deliver presentations of the above to satisfy client needs and goals.
- Respond to RFP’s and support in the development of winning proposals for the team.
- Develop and maintain strong internal and external networks.
- Attend and present at industry events.

The Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, civil engineering, natural science, business, or other relevant field);
- 8 or more years of relevant work experience– ideally with experience in the US infrastructure sector and in a Consulting/ Advisory capacity. Specific experience in providing technical due diligence is an advantage;
- Strong proficiency in a technical or consulting area derived from professional experience (design, construction, development, owner/public sector, technical consulting, investment banking, management consulting, etc);
- Excellent presentation and writing skills are required. Advanced capability with Microsoft Office Suite
- Outstanding quantitative and analytical skills.
- Strong interest in and passion for working in the energy, infrastructure or ESG sectors;
- Excellent written and spoken English language skills are essential;
- Proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese is not required, but preferred;
