The Opportunity

This is your chance to drive innovation by working on a wide range of international port maritime projects providing much needed infrastructure to support the energy transition while improving coastal resilience against natural hazards and climate change. You'll play a key role in shaping sustainable built environments by collaborating with a talented team and working with prestigious clients.

  • Assist with planning and design of port infrastructure, waterborne transport facilities, coastal protection, waterfront developments and other water-sited infrastructure and facilities.
  • Work both collaboratively and independently within our maritime team, with the ability to work with other Arup colleagues around the globe using our various technology solutions.
  • Produce reports, presentations, drawings, calculations and specifications, as well as Feasibility Studies and Business Cases.
  • Work with a broad range of Clients such as investors, port authorities and energy companies, Local Authorities and contractors.
  • Undertake site visits and site surveys, meeting with Clients and Stakeholders and collaborating with others, both within Arup and external to Arup

Our Current Projects Include

  • Design of a new piled quay wall structure for a major port.
  • Quay wall upgrade designs for important flood relief schemes in Ireland.
  • Development of practical guidance on coastal erosion and sea level rise in Ireland.
  • Preparation of port masterplans for clients across Europe.

An undergraduate or bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in the following disciplines:

  • Maritime Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Environmental Engineering

  • Geotechnical Engineering
  • Naval Architecture
  • Structural Engineering
  • Ground / Geotechnical Engineering
  • Materials Science
  • Floating Structures

  • A basic understanding of maritime, coastal and civil engineering principles.
  • An interest in coastal processes, geotechnics, structures and environmental considerations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Full working rights in the country of application
  • No more than 12 months of full-time experience in a comparable role
  • Recently graduated, or on track to graduate, from your most recent degree, related to your role of choice, before employment starts.

Eligibility

We're able to consider candidates who require an employment permit to work in Ireland, where the role and offered salary meet the Irish Government's eligibility criteria (for example, under the Critical Skills or General Employment Permit schemes).
