Staff Modeling Engineer, Electrical System / Power Electronics
Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.

What you'll do:
- Responsible to lead the modeling / simulation effort characterizing size, weight, performance, and cost of DC/DC and DC/AC power electronic converters
- Develop and maintain documentation on our simulation processes
- Develop and maintain models in matlab / simulink to support trade study analyses and key performance metrics
- Prepare documentation of the electrical architecture
- Perform modeling and testing to confirm system response to fault injection
- Provide cost & duration estimates for performing simulation tasks
- Prepare computing infrastructure analysis, budget needs, implementation, and maintenance
- Summarize and communicate results to the key stakeholders
- Work closely with a cross-functional team consisting of electrical, mechanical, and project management
What you need:
- BS Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Materials Science Engineering with 10+ years or MS with 6+ years of experience in related fields
- Knowledge of tools and modeling techniques of power electronic modules / components, from a size, weight, performance, and cost perspective
- Experience developing and maintaining models in matlab / simulink
- Ability to estimate model development duration and prioritize the development of multiple models
- Ability to summarize modeling results into plots / comparisons to support the down selection of topologies and components
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience designing power electronics
- Familiar with topologies utilized in DC/DC and DC/AC converters
- Experienced in the development of modeling systems to improve computing speed

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company's business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $163,200 - $204,800. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
