Software Configuration Manager
Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. What you'll do:
As the Software Configuration Manager, you will help establish and execute an organization-wide configuration management strategy. Your role ensures the integrity and traceability of software and system configurations across development, test, production, and operational environments.
- Develop, implement, and optimize configuration management processes across the organization
- Plan, establish, and manage software configuration baselines for production, laboratory, test vehicle, and in-service products
- Support compliance efforts with the Configuration Management Plan, focusing on planning, identification, change management, status accounting, and verification & audit procedures
- Develop requirements for configuration management tools used to implement and manage enterprise-level change management processes, integrating with issue tracking systems and continuous improvement initiatives
- Oversee technical data classification for export control compliance
- Collaborate with application engineers to integrate configuration management processes into systems and tools
- Foster a company culture that embraces configuration management principles through strategic initiatives and comprehensive training programs
- Partner with project teams to identify configuration items, manage releases and changes, and generate actionable status accounting reports
- Provide detailed configuration change analytics and metrics to support data-driven decision making and continuous process improvement
- Design and implement metrics collection frameworks that identify improvement opportunities across the business
- Maintain design configuration integrity and accuracy across the enterprise
- Facilitate and support Change Review Board activities
- Conduct and support internal and supplier configuration audits
- Develop specialized CM processes for Airline Operations requirements
- Identify and implement solutions for complex configuration management challenges
- Serve as a subject matter expert for configuration management processes, providing guidance when processes need modification or clarification
What You Need
- 3+ years of configuration management experience at an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)
- 5+ years experience with Product Lifecycle Management tools (e.g. Teamcenter, Enovia, 3dExperience, Windchill)
- Strong written skills with proven ability to document and maintain procedures used by the greater engineering organization
- Knowledge of DO-178/254 software and hardware certification processes
- Demonstrated understanding of aerospace software development and configuration management processes
- Basic CAD and drafting skills
- US Person status to support Configuration Management activities of ITAR restricted items.
- Exceptional communication abilities for effective collaboration with internal teams, vendors, partners, customers, and all levels of company leadership
- Proven track record in process development and leading organizational change management initiatives
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and technical documentation
- Adaptability and excellent prioritization skills in a dynamic environment

- Experience with Aircraft Certification
- Experience with ARP4754 processes
- Experience with Development and Test Programs
- Experience with model-based definition methodologies for type design data
- Hands-on experience with Siemens Teamcenter
- Comprehensive understanding of hardware development, supply chain dynamics, manufacturing processes, and quality systems
- Experience working in agile development environments
