Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.

What you'll do:

  • Perform a wide range of tasks including: requirements development, system modeling, safety analysis, verification procedure creation, test execution and preparing certification documentation
  • Participate in architecture definition, trade studies, and mutli-disciplinary integration problem solving
  • Work with Pilots, Operators, Maintainers and Human Factors to optimize maintenance functionality
  • Ensure Maintenance & Recording Subsystem requirement sets are complete and correct, with traceability to and fulfilling higher-level requirements
  • Coordinate integration of the Maintenance & Recording Subsystem with other Aircraft Systems (e.g. Flight Controls, Propulsion, Battery…)
  • Own and implement Maintenance & Recording Subsystem configurations
  • Liaison with Technical Publications organization for maintenance related documentation
  • Coordinate Avionics System related development, integration and verification activities between Archer teams and Archer suppliers
  • Perform system integration activities of the Avionics System in the various integrated labs
  • Assist with definition of installation and qualification requirements for equipment within the Avionics Systems
  • Coordinate with other System Engineers to ensure the fully integrated aircraft meets its requirements and is optimized
  • Based in Archer HQ, San Jose, CA. Travel: 5% or less

What you need:

  • Experience with Aircraft Maintenance & Aircraft Avionics Central Maintenance Computer
  • Experience with Aircraft Voice & Data Recording (CVDR)
  • Experience in implementing Maintenance & Recording Subsystem configuration
  • Good understanding of aviation communication protocols (e.g. ARINC 717, ARINC 429, Serial/Ethernet, RS-232/RS-422, Discretes, Analogs, CAN bus, etc…)
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g. Python, JSON, XML, etc…)
  • Experience with 14 CFR Part 23 and/or 25 Certification, ARP-4754/ARP-4761, DO-254, DO-178b/c, DO-160
  • Experience with functional and non-functional requirement definition for Integrated Avionics computing and networking components
  • Experience on one or more programs with a formal Systems Engineering process
  • Experience executing formal Validation and Verification activities in a civil aerospace program
  • Experience with system requirement management tools such as Polarion and/or DOORS
  • 8+ years of experience in Avionics Systems development, integration and installation
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or related field)
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication
  • Passion for learning and problem solving
  • Collaborative mindset, willingness to step in and support where needed

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience with: 14 CFR Part 91 and/or 135 Certification
  • Experience with general aviation VFR/IFR flight operations
  • Significant experience with Flight Guidance, Communication, Navigation, and/or Surveillance Systems
  • Experience developing or using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) models and tools
  • Experience with Agile development methods

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company's business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $151,680-$189,600. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
