EMC Design Engineer
Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. Responsibilities –
- Design/Analyze/Test EMI Filters (chokes/Y-capacitors/X-capacitors/inductors) for various Archer Products. Provide inputs regarding value selection, orientation of components, board layout guidelines and grounding strategies for EMI Filters.
- Perform in-depth Circuit and FEM Simulations for Emissions, Susceptibility, ESD and lightning strikes.
- Detailed Understanding about SI/PI – Design/Simulation and Measurement.
- Provide detailed EMC recommendations to Power Electronics and Mechanical Engineers for PCB board layout/Cable shielding strategies, grounding etc.
- Work closely with EMC Test Engineers to design/test/certify various Archer Products for DO-160G.
- Work with external EMC test labs for Aircraft level and DO-160 pre-compliance/compliance for Archer Products.
Background –
- Strong background in Analysis/Simulation/Testing of Power Electronics/Electric Circuits/EMI.
- Solid knowledge and usage of Circuit Simulation tools and Ansys EM tools (Q3D, SIWave, HFSS and Maxwell)
- Detailed Understanding of various EMC Equipment such as LISNs, Antennas, BCI Probes, EMI receivers, Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Vector Network Analyzer, Impedance Analyzer etc.
- Familiar with various standards such as DO-160, MIL-461, CISPR 12/16/25/32, UN ECE Regulation 10, FCC Part 15/18 etc.
Bonus Qualifications -
- Prior EMC Per-Compliance and Certification experience in Aerospace (DO 160 or MIL 461) /Automotive Industry (FCC or UN ECE Reg 10).

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company's business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $134,400- $168,000. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
