Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Actively identify potential hazards across all operational areas, ensuring a comprehensive approach to recognizing risks before they escalate by:
    • Managing the flight test hazard process
    • Audits of flight test operations, procedures, and manuals to ensure effectiveness of and compliance with policies and procedures
  • Maintain the Flight Test Emergency Response Plan and conduct periodic drills
  • Conduct site inspections and safety observations, encouraging input from personnel at all levels to uncover hidden or emerging hazards.
  • Provide comprehensive reports that include current safety metrics, trends, and analyses, incorporating predictive insights to identify potential risks and emerging issues.
  • Cultivate a culture of safety awareness across the organization that includes regularly engaging with personnel at all levels to ensure they understand and adhere to established safety protocols, procedures, and best practices.
  • Manage the Flight Test Safety program.
  • Develop a Flight Test Safety Management System (SMS) program.
  • Participate in Flight Test planning to provide oversight of safety processes and decisions

Required

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 years of aviation safety experience or formal aviation safety training
  • Knowledge of safety investigation techniques, root cause analysis, and technical report writing.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment and mitigation strategies, safety audits, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Knowledge of human factors in aviation.
  • Ability to analyze safety data to anticipate potential risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • The ability to communicate complex safety issues clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally.
  • Be able to uphold the highest standards of integrity and ethical behavior, ensuring that safety remains the top priority even in situations where operational efficiency or other business pressures may conflict.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skill.

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company's business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $151680 - $189600. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
