A high-growth AI startup in SF is looking for a Staff Engineer to help build a next-gen agentic workflow platform that's changing how engineering teams design, orchestrate, and scale AI-powered automation. You'll own the hardest technical problems on the platform, from agent architecture and runtime systems to the full-stack interfaces that make complex workflows feel seamless. As a senior technical voice on an early team, you'll have real ownership over the product, architecture, and engineering culture, with a direct line to customers and leadership. If you've built agents end to end and want to do it 0 → 1 at a company that's ahead of the curve, this one's worth a look.

***This is a hybrid role in San Francisco. Candidates must be willing to be onsite in SF.***

***This role is unable to provide sponsorship, a visa transfer, or work on a C2C basis. Candidates MUST be permanent residents of the United States.***

What You'll Do

  • Architect and build end-to-end agentic systems, including agent orchestration, tool use, memory, and multi-step reasoning workflows
  • Build full-stack product features across the platform using Node.js, React, and TypeScript
  • Design and integrate LLM-powered features that power intelligent, autonomous developer workflows
  • Develop tooling and dashboards for monitoring agent behavior, workflow execution, and platform health
  • Build scalable backend infrastructure to support real-time agentic pipelines and user data
  • Work closely with customers to translate real engineering pain points into product capabilities
  • Collaborate with leadership on product direction and set the technical bar for the engineering team

What You Bring

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including time at Staff level or equivalent
  • Hands-on experience building agents end to end, including orchestration, tool calling, and multi-agent coordination
  • Strong full-stack skills in Node.js, TypeScript, and React
  • Experience with AWS and cloud infrastructure at scale
  • Comfort owning problems across frontend, backend, and infrastructure
  • Ability to drive technical decisions and mentor engineers in a fast-moving environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience with agentic frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, or similar
  • Background in developer tooling, DevOps, or enterprise SaaS
  • Startup or 0 → 1 product experience
  • Experience working directly with customers to shape product decisions

Why This Role Is Interesting

  • Own the architecture of a platform where agents are the core product, not a feature
  • Shape the early engineering culture at a fast-moving, mission-driven startup
  • Build at the intersection of AI, developer experience, and real-world enterprise impact
  • Significant ownership and equity at the ground floor of something big
