We’re looking for a People Operations Generalist to help nurture, support, and grow our people-first culture. As part of our People Team, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our systems, processes, and programs run seamlessly while keeping team member engagement at the heart of everything we do. From onboarding to internal communications to Foundation-wide events, you’ll be a connector and problem-solver who helps make the Arbor Day Foundation a place where people love to do their best work.

This role is based in Lincoln, Nebraska, and reports to the Senior, Business Partner. Team members are expected to be in the office on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Team members can work remotely on Wednesday and Friday, subject to their schedule and business needs.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage critical programs and systems, serving as the lead in using our Human Resources Information System (HRIS)
  • Coordinate team member learning and development events, including event communication, registration, day-of logistics, and follow-up.
  • Assist in the execution of engagement events to foster a positive work environment. This planning, promoting, and helping host events that make an impact for our people.
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding processes, including preparing documentation (I-9’s), and building orientation schedules.
  • Support performance management processes, including assisting with performance reviews on the backend and data management within performance software.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as preparing reports, managing correspondence, and maintaining HR-related documentation.
  • Maintain and support organization-wide communication as main point of contact and contributor to digital signage and company intranet.
  • Serve as a point of contact for team member inquiries and concerns, providing information and assistance as needed.
  • Collaborate with People Team members to implement policies, procedures, and initiatives effectively.
  • Ability to cross-train and provide back-up support to all other People Team functional areas.

What You’ll bring:

  • Passion for the Foundation’s mission, nature, environmental stewardship, and people
  • Our ideal candidate has 5 years of experience in HR or a related field
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a knack for building trust.
  • Proficiency in learning, managing, and optimizingHR systems and processes.
  • Keen attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in data management.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • A collaborative spirit—ready to work both independently and as part of a team.
