The Arbor Day Foundation is seeking a Director, Mission Delivery, to lead the operational aspects of Arbor Day Foundations mission to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees. This leadership role will guide our Reforestation, Community Trees, Procurement and Fulfillment teams to cultivate durable relationships with planting partners and more cohesively deliver our mission to donors and corporate partners.

Reporting Structure: This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer

You Have:

  • Passion. For the Foundations mission, nature, environmental stewardship, and people.
  • Expertise in operational excellence. You have a strong background in operational excellence, supply chain optimization, continuous improvement, and partner/vendor management. Your experience allows you to streamline processes and optimize resources to achieve high standards of performance.
  • Professionalism and integrity. You are deeply engaged in your work and maintain professionalism, serving as a role model and upholding the Foundation's values.
  • Leadership and management skills. You have demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience in supervising teams, strategic planning, and budgeting.
  • Strong communication abilities. Your creativity and problem-solving skills enable you to build strong relationships and drive successful outcomes.
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience. You have experience or certification in Lean/Six Sigma, equipping you with the tools to implement process improvements and enhance operational efficiency across the organization.

You Will:

  • Build relationships. Foster an environment where relationships thrive, creating sustainable partnerships based on mutual value, trust, and loyalty.
  • Develop sourcing strategies. Create and implement a comprehensive sourcing strategy aligned with the Foundations' product strategy, business goals, and mission.
  • Drive process improvement. Continuously assess and enhance sourcing and operational processes across all teams to increase efficiency and effectiveness, applying common practices where possible.
  • Lead teams. Manage and mentor the leaders of the reforestation, community trees, fulfillment, and procurement teams. Create vision, drive a culture of continuous improvement, align structure, guide expectations and individual growth, and celebrate success.
  • Focus on customers. Foster a customer-centric culture, ensuring the delivery strategy aligns with customer needs.
  • Optimize costs. Champion efforts to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality or partner relationships.
  • Manage risks. Assess and mitigate risks associated with the project and tree supply chains, including supply disruptions, geopolitical factors, and regulatory compliance.
  • Stay market aware. Collaborate with growth teams to understand customer needs, stay informed on market trends, and remain aware of emerging technologies and industry development that could impact sourcing decisions.
