Full-Stack Engineer
About Arbonics
Together with landowners, Arbonics is building a new forest economy to scale forest carbon removal and increase the biodiversity of European forests. Arbonics was founded in 2022 by Kristjan Lepik and Lisett Luik, and is backed by Taavet Hinrikus, Plural Platform, and Nordic Ninja.
The role
You'll be joining our 3-member technology team as a core technical voice from day one, making architectural decisions on greenfield systems like our digital twin, and shaping how we build as the team scales.
What You'll Build
External Product (≈40%): You'll build features for our Landowner Portal, handling onboarding, data collection, project tracking, and credit forecasting.
Internal Tools & Infrastructure (≈60%): You'll develop data ingestion pipelines, verification workflow automation, and contribute to our digital twin system - the auditable representation of each land parcel.
You'll collaborate closely with our Head of Product to shape solutions, our GIS Lead on spatial data workflows and the digital twin, and our Head of Verification on audit-ready systems.
What You Won't Be Doing
Required
Impact: Forest carbon removal is essential climate infrastructure. The work directly contributes to removing CO₂ and restoring European forests.
Technical Challenge: Complex domain combining forestry science, geospatial analysis, carbon accounting, and regulatory compliance. You'll work on interesting problems like building data ingestion pipelines for disparate European forestry data sources and building our digital twin - the auditable representation of every land parcel.
Ownership: Small team means high leverage. Your decisions matter. You'll have autonomy to decide how things get built and influence our technical direction.
Team: Work alongside specialists in forestry, GIS, verification, and carbon markets. Direct collaboration with product, design, and stakeholders.
Growth: You'll shape technical architecture on greenfield projects like our digital twin system, influence technical direction, and have the opportunity to grow into technical leadership as we scale the team.
Our values
Measurably good for forests - What we do has a positive, data-driven impact on forests. We prove this through rigorous, transparent data that gives everyone confidence we're making the right decisions.
Commercial traction is climate action - We can only reach climate impact if we're commercially sustainable. We work with focus and build sustainable business to fund our positive impact.
Bluntly honest, always kind - We speak clearly and bring concerns forward so they can be addressed. We deliver honesty with respect and support each other's growth through constructive feedback.
Own your space, grow together - We take initiative, make informed decisions, and adapt as we learn. We think like owners and support each other to deliver strong outcomes sustainably.
Practicalities
Our interview process is designed to ensure a great fit for both you and the company. It typically includes the following stages:
