Aquatech has an immediate need for a full-time Applied Development & Testing Engineer to work in our Canonsburg, PA office and Laboratory location. The hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Applied Development & Testing Engineer will perform the duties described in the job description below and will be considered an Exempt employee.
The ideal candidate will have excellent math skills, applied creativity, mechanical skills, problem-solving skills, be team-oriented, customer service-driven, and have attention to detail. This candidate will also have experience in a project-related industry.

- Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- Five (5) years of experience or more in a laboratory or plant setting
- General Laboratory skills such as measuring, weighing, record keeping, and safe chemical handling
Objectives and Responsibilities of this role
- Drive on-time execution of applied development programs by owning integrated schedules, deliverable tracking, and cross-functional coordination for long-horizon internal initiatives (e.g., new lab buildout, DLE treatability campaigns, pilot scheduling).
- Increase program predictability and transparency through structured planning, milestone definition, dependency management, and routine reporting to technical and leadership stakeholders.
- Organizing workstreams, clarifying owners, tracking actions, and maintaining decision/action logs.
- Strengthen development governance by standardizing templates, stage gates, review cadence, and documentation practices across internal development projects.
- Run program operating cadence and reporting (weekly execution reviews, risk/issue management, decision logging, and leadership-facing dashboards/status).
- Program execution: Proven ability to build/manage multi-workstream schedules, dependencies, milestones, and deliverables in a development setting.
- Tools & reporting: Proficiency with MS Project (or equivalent) + Excel, and at least one tracking platform (Smartsheet/Jira/Asana/etc); able to produce clear dashboards/status.
- Stakeholder leadership: Strong communication and meeting facilitation; disciplined action/risk management and follow-through across cross-functional teams.
- Experience with lab buildouts/commissioning and/or pilot skid planning and campaign execution.
- Familiarity with DLE and adjacent unit ops (IX, membranes/RO, crystallization, separations).
- Experience operating in SOP/EHS/QA/QC-driven technical environments.
- Comfort with procurement/vendor coordination (RFQs, lead times, expediting) for development hardware and services
