Job Description

Apex is seeking a Vice President of Project Management - Green Fuels who will manage the engineering, procurement, and construction phases of their green fuels’ program, primarily hydrogen related chemicals. This position will report into the SVP of Project Management and while working closely alongside them, play an integral role in the operations of the Project Management department. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of project management experience, preferably with experience working for an industrial EPC firm or related firms in the chemical production sector.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage the preparation project schedules from early-stage development through engineering, procurement, and construction of chemical production plants.
  • Oversee the EPC phase of the projects within the budget and schedule approved by management.
  • Responsible for the project EPC contractor, and coordinate with project stakeholders to ensure a successful project.
  • Instruct and supervise the Site Construction Manager(s) and projects using industry standard project management tools.
  • Handle constructability reviews, risk analysis, and change management.

Success Profile

To succeed as a Vice President of Project Management – Green Fuels at Apex Clean Energy, you’ll need to excel within the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering required; Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering preferred, advanced degree preferred
  • At least 10-years of related industrial project management experience; experience working for an industrial EPC firm or related firms in the chemical production sector
  • Experience managing multiple construction projects, and project controls for industrial engineering, procurement, and construction
  • Able to read, write, understand, and speak English proficiently
  • High standard of integrity and reliability
  • Candidates must be able to work from the Apex corporate office in Charlottesville, VA
  • Business related travel is required and expected to be at least 20% on a regular basis
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required upon employment

Work Environment

Works primarily traditional office hours in an indoor office environment. Flexible work hours allowed when work duties and business operations permit.
