Job Description


The New Markets team provides the market intelligence that drives Apex’s greenfielding process and overall strategy. In this New Markets Summer Associate role, you’ll support the analysis of information that helps evaluate, rank and select the state and regional markets that we develop in. Summer associates might spend the summer working to understand an emerging driver of value for renewable power projects, diving into a regional market to assess its attractiveness for development or distilling macroeconomic developments down to their project-level implications.

New Markets Summer Associates will be passionate about accelerating the shift to a clean energy future and will be in pursuit of either an MBA or a graduate degree in a related field. Candidates must have an outstanding academic record, knowledge of U.S. power markets, and must be able to quickly and effectively pull relevant data from a variety of sources. Candidates must be adept at using both quantitative and qualitative information to inform decision making.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates U.S. power markets and aiding in the development of market strategies
  • Analyzes, quantifies, and visualizes drivers of demand for renewable power
  • Synthesizes economic, commodity, financial, regulatory, and other data from a wide variety of sources
  • Performs other duties and investigations as assigned

Qualifications
  • MBA or a graduate degree candidate in a related field (e.g. finance, energy, economics, environmental science) with an outstanding academic record
  • Knowledge of or experience with at least one RTO/ISO, preferably one located in the U.S.
  • Strong cross-functional (quantitative and qualitative) analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate (or greater) familiarity with Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrable alignment with Apex’s core values of sustainability, safety, entrepreneurship, integrity, and professionalism
  • Experience with Bloomberg Terminal, S&P Market Intelligence/CAPIQ, IHS Markit, Wood Mackenzie, or similar data providers is a plus

  • The summer associate program will run from June 5 through August 11 but we can be flexible with the start and end dates
  • Hours: Full Time
  • Type: Non-Exempt
  • Pay: $25/Hour
