Summary

We are looking for a Principal Consultant to join our North America Decarbonization team, which sits within the Climate & Nature global business line.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading client engagements to advise and implement innovative solutions so that clients can plan and act on decarbonization. You will join a dedicated team that serves clients across our focus sectors of technology, food & ag, health care and retail. You will provide technical expertise, including modelling science-based targets and developing decarbonization strategies for our clients, and support future business growth through proposal development and leading competitive bidding.

Key Responsibilities

Client-facing responsibilities

  • Managing and delivering target and decarbonization projects, including technical analyses, creating client reports and presentations that convey key messages, inform strategic decision-making and deliver impact-led conclusions
  • Growing client relationships, proactively identifying and framing new activations with clients. Leading and/or supporting the development of proposals
  • Demonstrating technical expertise and knowledge, ideally related to technology sector aspects such as cloud computing, data centers, and impacts of AI
  • Contributing to the development of our service offerings to meet and anticipate evolving market needs, and sharing best practices with the team to transfer knowledge and develop competency
  • Contributing inclusive qualities to build a positive culture
  • Operating and collaborating effectively with a mindset that transcends geographic and cultural boundaries
  • Contributing to Anthesis’ innovation and thought leadership around corporate climate action

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Areas of Technical Expertise

  • Direct experience of modelling science-based targets and detailed knowledge of the requirements of the Science Based Targets Initiative.
  • Specialises in delivering complex target setting and decarbonisation planning projects, with demonstrated experience in Scope 3.
  • Supports in value creating decarbonisation plans that meet the needs of our corporate clients’ senior management and which can be effectively implemented.
  • Provides expert insights, guidance and support to clients and on how to translate decarbonisation initiatives and projects into value creating business models to ensure long-term sustainable business value creation.
  • Experience in one or combination of the following corporate sectors: Technology; Food and Ag; Retail; Apparel with a good understanding of the relevant decarbonisation measures.

Key Requirements

  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) Bachelors/Master’s Degree
  • 5+ years’ experience in relevant work
  • Excellent client and project management skills
  • Deep technical knowledge of SBTi guidance, Decarbonisation modelling and implementation (demonstrated experience in Scope 3) within corporate setting. Familiarity with GHG accounting and GHG Protocol requirements.
  • Experience in delighting clients within a corporate context while challenging them to deliver maximum sustainability impact
  • Strong communication and consulting skills; particularly an understanding of the sustainability challenges that organisations face in today’s climate
  • Active and encouraging team player
  • Experience with digital tools related to decarbonisation
