Senior Consultant - UK Climate Risk & Resilience
The Senior Consultant will lead client engagements and business development, advising on innovative solutions to help organizations anticipate, manage, and disclose climate-related risks and opportunities. The successful candidate will engage key stakeholders to enhance value chain resilience and leverage strategic advantages within the low-carbon economy transition.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this role are diverse and comprise:
- Managing and monitoring projects, primarily focused on Climate Risk & Resilience services, while fostering cross-functional collaboration across Anthesis Group.
- Leading the development of proposals for climate risk and opportunity, adaptation strategies, and climate-related reporting, while actively driving the implementation of these initiatives.
- Applying established approaches to climate scenario analysis for physical and transition risks, while contributing innovative concepts to enhance service offerings through global team collaboration.
- Delivering high-impact outputs that articulate key messages, inform strategic decision-making, and provide results-oriented conclusions.
- Contributing to the evolution of Anthesis’ thought leadership and marketing collateral regarding climate change and its associated reporting frameworks.
- Driving business development by identifying new opportunities, enhancing existing client relationships, and supporting strategic account management.
- Demonstrating inclusive leadership to foster and maintain a positive organizational culture.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Essential Requirements
- Academic Excellence: A degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., Sustainability, Climate Science, Finance, or Enterprise Risk Management).
- Professional Expertise: A minimum of 5 years of experience in a related capacity, such as a Climate Risk/ESG practitioner within a consultancy, financial services, or enterprise risk management (ERM) environment.
- Mission-Driven Mindset: A profound passion for sustainability and a dedicated interest in operating at the vanguard of sustainable finance.
- Technical Knowledge: A comprehensive understanding of global climate science and international decarbonization pathways and scenarios.
- Proven Track Record: Demonstrated experience in delivering both transition and physical climate risk assessments for diverse client portfolios.
- Collaborative Spirit: A curious, open-minded, and enthusiastic professional with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of global stakeholders.
- Operational Rigor: Highly organized, methodical, and analytical, possessing superior time-management skills and the resilience to thrive under pressure within a dynamic, fast-paced consultancy landscape.
- Proactive Communication: Self-motivated with the confidence to exercise initiative, complemented by exceptional communication skills.
- Regulatory Proficiency: Deep knowledge and practical experience in providing corporate sustainability support, including mastery of key ESG standards and frameworks (e.g., ISSB/IFRS, CSRD/EU Omnibus, UK SRS, and the EU Taxonomy).
Preferred Experience
- Financial Accreditations: Accounting or audit credentials (such as ACA, CIMA, or ACCA) or equivalent experience in financial planning, bookkeeping, auditing, taxation, data analysis, and financial reporting.
- Commercial Acumen: A documented track record of expanding client accounts and identifying new business development opportunities.
- ERM Specialization: Proficiency in Enterprise Risk Management practices and policies, including risk analysis, reporting under ERM frameworks, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and rating agency standards.
- Scientific Depth: Background as a climate scientist with practical expertise in climate change adaptation, resilience strategies, and climate scenario modeling and analysis.
